The Princess Bride, The Bride of Christ, and a Professor.

Those of us who came “of age” after Ferris Bueller took a day off, but before Britney Spears promoted masochistic teenage relationships would have grown to love a family video with fewer hidden meanings then the average Disney flick.

One of the best lines that would later be distorted by our Commander and Chief “is” the following:

“Why do you always say that word? I do not think it means what you think it means…”

Any guesses as to who said it?

One more hint: ‘Ello, my name is ______ you killed my father, prepare to die.”

If you said “Inigo Montoya”, you’d be right.

Professor Luidens from “Hope College” Michigan is quite hopeful the Reformed Church of America is done for.

He cheekily remarks, “Listen. Do you hear them? Those are the gentle, mournful sounds of a denomination imploding”

Lest you read this and say, “Wait! How can the Reformed Church be declining? What about Piper, Chandler, Driscol, and others who are seeing massive growth?”. The Reformed Church of America (RCA) is a a denomination with full communion fellowship with the ELCA and PCUSA.

Is it just as liberal as those denominations?

I don’t know, but it does make me wonder: If Ultra-Liberal Radio stations can’t survive, Uber-Liberal TV staions are on the decline, and the Liberals teaching science can’t stand up to their Christian students without special training seminars, then why do same Liberal Churches that make winning seats rather than winning souls their top priority insist on being Liberal in the first place? Isn’t it now being shown that being conservative actually gets more listeners/viewers/attenders?
