Maybe it’s elitism snobbery.
Maybe it’s the Bio-Pieces that make McLaren and Rob Bell demonstrative of mainstream Christianity, and brush under the rug 1,000 far more worthy Orthodox Christians doing amazing things.
Maybe it’s the fact the Gospel is a footnote found somewhere in the margins of the popular mag.
Whatever the reason, Christianity Today (CT) is trashed by many in the Reformed camp, and defaced by the ultra-orthodox conservatives.
Is all that about to change?
CT joined forces with Lausanne to produce an 8 minute documentary that would rival John Piper’s insanely popular video on the “Prosperity Gospel”.

This is one reason Calvinists deride CT:

Wow. That article was full of insight. Not the least of which was that someone can be “Sexuality Scholar” at a major Seminary. Maybe I could apply as Professor of Wine and Cheese.
You talked about a college to cross off your hypothetical “Seminary” list today on your blog, I’m guessing Wheaton is on that list as well…
Fortunately, I’m not in the market for a seminary…but I would recommend that men seeking the pastorate avoid the pomp of a seminary…not to be anti-intellectual, rather, the humanism of the world has infected many of these institutions.
My church, along with Church of the Good Shepherd in Bloomington, have pastor’s colleges where men are prepared for ministry by ministers…not academics who are (very likely) not gifted for pastoring. Decent institutions would include Puritan Reformed, RTS in Jackson…there may be others. These two stand out, to my mind.
